Boxing - Overview

Boxing is a combat sport where two opponents, usually of similar weight, engage in a contest of strength, speed, and strategy. The objective is to land punches on the opponent while avoiding their punches, with the ultimate goal of knocking them out or scoring more points through clean hits. Matches are typically divided into rounds, and fighters wear padded gloves and adhere to specific rules and regulations enforced by a referee.

Various governing bodies organize boxing at different levels. Internationally, the most prominent organizations include the International Boxing Federation (IBF), World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Council (WBC), and World Boxing Organization (WBO). These organizations oversee title bouts and rankings across different weight divisions. Additionally, many countries have their own national boxing federations or associations responsible for regulating the sport at the domestic level.

There are only a few headquarters for boxing, as multiple international organizations govern the sport, each with its own administrative offices. For example, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) is headquartered in Springfield, New Jersey, USA, while the World Boxing Association (WBA) is based in Panama City, Panama. The World Boxing Council (WBC) is headquartered in Mexico City, Mexico, and the World Boxing Organization (WBO) is based in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
