Cricket – Overview

Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players each on a circular field. 

The objective is to score runs by hitting a ball with a bat and running between wickets, while the opposing team tries to get players out. There are various formats including Test cricket (played over five days), One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 (T20) matches, each with different rules and durations. It’s popular in many countries, particularly in the Commonwealth nations.

Cricket is primarily organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) at the global level, which oversees international matches and tournaments. Additionally, each cricket-playing nation has its own governing body responsible for domestic competitions and development programs. For example, in India, it’s the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), while in England and Wales, it’s the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

The world headquarters of cricket is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where the International Cricket Council (ICC) has its headquarters.

The current head of the ICC is the Chairman, which is Greg Barclay from New Zealand
